The first decay scheme of 66Fe and the new consistent level scheme of 66Co were constructed based on beta-gamma-gamma coincidences, logft values, and Weisskopf estimates of transition probabilities. The half-life value of (80) ms for beta-decay of the ground state in 66Fe was extracted from beta-gated laser ON statistics. Figure Chart of known nuclei in which stable nuclei (natural elements showing up in nature), neutron-rich and neutron-deficient nuclei are presented. Magic (closed shell) nuclei occur where the horizontal and vertical lines intersect. A few regions of deformed nuclei are also shown as well as a few key nuclei: '"OZr, I3'Sn, U. fp,-I-I/5(5).

This is illustrated in Fig. which shows N’ Fig. ‘The stable odd-A nuclei. Each dot represents a stable fmeleus plotted with coordinates (Z,N), We shall show in Section that there is only one stable isobar for each value of A for nuclei with odd 4 and therefore this plot is particularly simple.5/5(2). *1) – , Phys. The propcsed decay schemes were tested by comparing the experimental data with predictions of the Bohr-Mottelson Theory of Deformed Nuclei. Previously unreported transitions were observed and some of these were used to assign new levels in the daughter nuclei, Pu/sup / and U/sup /.

Figure Nilsson diagram of single-particle energy levels for deformed nuclei. The energy scale is in units of ħω 0 (ħω 0 is approximately 41A −⅓ MeV).

The figures along the center give the neutron or proton numbers and l–j values for the single nucleon. The figure combinations at the end of the lines are approximate quantum numbers; the first figure is the principal quantum number n. The decay of min Yb has been investigated by means of Ge(Li) detectors, toroidal and magnetic-lens β-spectrometers and scintillation counters.

In the present paper we extend our MM model based on the deformed Woods-Saxon potential, which up to now was applied mainly to even-even nuclei [7], to odd-A and odd-odd superheavy (SH) systems.

This paper reports on the first measurement of the positive- and negative-parity low-spin excited states of Ba and presents an extension of the β-decay scheme of Cs.

Employing the fast timing technique, half-lives for the 2+1 level in both nuclei have been determined, resulting in T1/2=(1) ns for Ba and T1/2=(2) ns for Ba. This volume is a collection of the contributions to the 14th National Conference on Nuclear Structure in China (NSC).

It provides an important updated resource in the nuclear physics literature for researchers and graduate students studying nuclear structure and related topics. Book of Abstracts 5th International Workshop On Nuclear Data Unified approach for multiband optical model in soft deformed even-even and odd-A nuclides in order to try to balance the decay scheme of mRh, the multipolarity of the gamma transition being a major issue.

The topics presented in the last two lessons are related to the experimental status of the study of nuclei at the limits of the Nuclear Chart, and the behaviour of nuclei under extreme conditions, both of which are hot topics in nuclear physics.

The organization of the book is of course a matter of taste and the order selected is our. (After J. Hamilton et al., eds., Future Directions in Studies of Nuclei Far from Stability, ) In alpha radioactivity (Table 1) the parent nucleus spontaneously emits an alpha particle.

Since the alpha particle is the nucleus of the helium-4 atom, it contains two protons and two neutrons. Butler, P. A., Gaffney, L. P., Spagnoletti, P., Abrahams, K., Bowry, M., Cederkall, J., Zielinska, M.

In the years since, new techniques ave vitalized every aspect of this field. Unexpected phenomena have been ncovered in measurements of nuclear radii, magnetic dipole and electric uadrupole moments. The understanding gained from these measurements is) mpl ementary, often.
